'Discotheque Asylum' is my final Alien Skin EP release for the year.
I begun writing and recording just prior to the release of ‘Retro Ice Machine’ in October, 2024.
'In An Empty Room' was the first track I wrote and completed with the intention of continuing its music sound and vibe. The following songs didn't unfold the way I planned, turning into the theme of asylum from the destructive, aggressive external world that gets ever more threatening with each day, each new governing power and each new conflagration. It all got manipulated and reduced into another dark mess of my own consciousness.
'In An Empty Room', the opening track, for me, moodily feels like flailing deep beneath the sea with all the pressure of the ocean crushing the human frame. Make what you wish of the tracks, I prefer other people's personal interpretations.
I wanted to keep the EP moving but I added an interlude to build dynamic energy as the EP continues to its completion.
