Sheena Was a Punk Rocker (She's a Fan)

'Sheena Was a Punk Rocker (She's a Fan)' b/w 'In Her Solitude'

These two tracks (construction versions) developed into 'She's a Fan' and 'Transparent In Black' respectively, from the EP, 'TRANSPARENT IN BLACK'.

'Sheena Was a Punk Rocker (She's a Fan)' was my first attempt at writing what became the 'Transparent In Black' EP opening track 'She's a Fan'. In the process of is construction I used a lyric from the Ramones' song, 'Sheena Is a Punk Rocker' as a placeholder. What I wrote as a middle section eventually ended up the core for the song instead, you hear this at the end (the Bela Lugosi bits), replacing all the 'Sheena' parts. But I also like this version as an alternative. To mix it up even further, the original spark was a paen to the band Bauhaus.

'In Her Solitude (Construction Track)' was the first song I wrote for the EP, 'Transparent In Black'. I decided not to use it but employ its structural ideas to construct a new song which became the title track. The chorus in the latter is similar but simplified, you'll hear other similarities as well.
