The Beatles 'In My Life' and I
2012 has seen the passing of a number of notable music artists, people who were ever present in my youth and loomed larger than life in those early formative years. People I still look back to with fondness and gratitude for the music they created. Amongst these are Robin Gibb, Davy Jones, John Lord, Darryl Cotton and many more over the decades.
And also for those who I knew personally, family & friends who are now gone and places of my youth that no longer exist, I wish to dedicate a cherished song which gives voice to sentiments within.
In My Life for those who may not know, is a Beatles song primarily written by John Lennon, that appeared on their classic 1965 album, Rubber Soul.
There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
